Pikachu animation! ^_^

My final project was a continuation of my midterm. I wanted to animate Pikachu with realistic movements bouncing & rolling the Pokeball.

NJ Autodesk Animation Global Users Association

The NJ Autodesk Animation Global Users Association was a really educational experience. Each speaker had interesting points & helpful information. My favorite part was when each member showed their work, each piece was amazing! Their work was so intricate & had a lot of different graphic elements. I was really impressed. I enjoyed the whole presentation & even won a t-shirt at the end! =)

Midterm

Originally I wanted to animate Pikachu with a Pokeball, but that wouldn't have been done by the midterm so I plan on doing that for the final. For the midterm I just made the figures.

I have never used Maya before this course, so this was a challenge for me. Both Pikachu & the Pokeball are made out of NURBS spheres. I made Pikachu first. I started with the sphere by pulling & sculpting it. It took some time but I finally got it to look like Pikachu's body. I used a NURBS cone for the tail. I squashed it & stretched to get it to be the right shape & then made them both yellow. I made another sphere for the Pokeball & scaled it down to the right size & colored it. I found an image of Pikachu's face  & imported it.

Using Maya has been harder than I thought. Sometimes it can be frustrating because there are so many different tools. It's a really interesting program & I think there's awesome things you can do with it. Right now my projects aren't that complex because I'm still figuring out how to use most of the software features. I can't wait to learn how to do more advanced projects with it.
